Jose Luis Martinez
Founder, Chairman & CEO
Jose Luis is the founder of MACA Advisors and has spent the last 28 years of his career in senior roles at global investment banks, including at UBS, J.P. Morgan and predecessor firm Bear Stearns. Most recently, Jose Luis served as Vice Chairman of Latin America and Global M&A at UBS, where he was responsible for the investment banking advisory business in Latin America. He has senior relationships across Latin America and has personally executed transactions with an aggregate value in excess of $200 billion.

Jaime Castelló
Co-Founder & Senior Managing Director
Jaime is the co-founder of MACA Advisors, where he leads coverage of clients in Mexico and serves as Head of Mergers & Acquisitions. Prior to founding MACA Advisors, he spent 9 years at UBS in a variety of roles, most recently as head of Latin America advisory for the consumer, healthcare, real estate, TMT and infrastructure sectors, in addition to being a senior member of the Latin America M&A team.

Francisco Arriaza
Country Representative Guatemala
Francisco serves as MACA Advisors' country representative in Guatemala, leveraging his extensive experience and market relationships to identify opportunities and deliver value. Prior to joining MACA Advisors, Francisco spent 18 years at Corporación Multi Inversiones in senior roles including Group CFO, CFO of CMI Foods, and on the M&A committee. He also spent 13 years at Banco G&T Continental as head of Corporate Banking.

Elias Guillermo Bajares
Senior Analyst
Elias Guillermo is a Senior Analyst at MACA Advisors. Prior to joining MACA, he worked as an Investment Banking Analyst at Raymond Jaimes’s Healthcare M&A group. Originally from Caracas, Venezuela, Elias Guillermo holds a B.Sc. in Finance and minors in Computer Information Systems and Data Analytics from Bentley University.

Carlos is a Partner at BRAVA. He graduated in Business Administration from FGV, and previously worked in Investment Banking at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and in strategic planning at Esporte Interativo.

Thomas Birkefeld
Institutional Partner
Thomas is a Partner at BRAVA. He holds a B.Sc. in Business Administration from HHL Leipzig, an MBA from INSEAD, and completed an Executive Finance program at Chicago Booth. He worked nine years at Citigroup in Brazil & Germany (including Director of M&A) and started his career in Asset Management at Goldman Sachs and Investment Banking at Morgan Stanley, both in Germany.

Enrique Cañas
Country Representative Panama, El Salvador & Honduras
Enrique serves as MACA Advisors' country representative in Panama, El Salvador and Honduras, bringing insights from 35 years at IADB, IDB Invest, EY, Lazard, World Bank, and other institutions. He specializes in financial structuring and international development finance.

Roberto D’Avola
Institutional Partner
Roberto is the Head of CIB for Latin Securities, MACA Advisors’ institutional partner in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. He has 30 years of investment banking experience, having participated in some of the region’s most representative transactions. Prior to Latin Securities, he led J.P. Morgan’s investment banking in the Southern Cone and was head of Latin America Equity & DCM at J.P. Morgan.

Miguel Drago
Senior Analyst
Miguel is a Senior Analyst at MACA Advisors. He was the first external hire at MACA and is based in Lima. Prior to joining MACA, he worked at two investment banking boutiques based in London and Geneva. Originally from Lima, Miguel holds a B.Sc. in Business Administration from ESADE Business School.

Omar Goyenechea
Senior Managing Director & Country Head Peru
Omar is Senior Managing Director at MACA Advisors and leads our Peru office. He has 30+ years in investment banking, private equity, and venture capital, advising landmark cross-border transactions and structuring equity platforms across Latin America and the US.

Ricardo Guillen
Agroindustrial Advisor
Ricardo is MACA Advisors’ agroindustrial deal partner, a role in which he brings a 30 year career in the agroindustrial sector to bear in support of our clients. Prior to MACA Advisors, Ricardo spent 25 years at Grupo Pantaleón, where he rose to the rank of Chief Operating Officer, having been intimately involved in the company’s organic and inorganic growth over his tenure. Ricardo is also the founder of LandCo, a successful specialist consulting firm focused on the agroindustrial sector in Central America.

Juan Esteban Morales
Associate Director
Juan Esteban is an Associate Director at MACA Advisors. Prior to joining MACA, he worked as a Senior Analyst at Itaú BBA’s Latin America M&A and ECM investment banking group for three years. Before that, he was an Analyst at INVERLINK and an Investment Analyst at Ashmore’s Infrastructure Fund. Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, Juan Esteban holds a B.Sc. in Business from CESA.

Eduardo Tapia

Eduardo is a businessman who has founded and managed several local and international financial services companies over the course of his career. He is currently the controlling shareholder and Chairman of the Latin Securities group, MACA Advisors’ institutional partner in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. Latin Securities, formerly AR Partners, is the successor company to Raymond James Argentina. He is also founder and President of Latin Securities S.A., stockbroker and brokerage firm in Uruguay, and Latin Securities Inc., broker dealer in the US. He is also founding partner and Director of Delta Asset Management in Argentina. Additionally, he’s a Board Member of Bolsas y Mercados Argentinos (ByMA). Between 2008 and 2012 he was Vicepresident of the Buenos Aires Stock Exchange and, between 2014 and 2016, he was a Board Member of Merval SA. He began his career at Banco Mildesa (now Banco Patagonia), then served as Country Manager for Argentina at Barings Brothers and Director of Barings Securities in London (1991–1995). From 1995 to 1998 he was Regional Managing Director of Caspian Securities for Latin America, and in 1998 partnered with Raymond James to create three joint ventures in Argentina and Uruguay. He holds an M.Sc. from the University of Buenos Aires.

André Tavares
Institutional Partner
André is the Founding Partner and CEO of BRAVA, MACA Advisors’ institutional partner in Brazil. He holds a B.Sc. in Business Administration from FGV and previously spent seven years in Citigroup’s IBD in São Paulo and New York, and four years as a Partner at Banco BR Partners. Over 15 years, he’s advised on 40+ M&A, restructurings, and capital markets transactions.

Diego Trucco
Institutional Partner
Diego joined Latin Securities, MACA Advisors’ institutional partner in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay, in December 2010 and has been CEO since 2017. Before taking his current role, he held leadership positions in the Research and Sales & Research departments. Previously, he was CFO at Consultatio and Head Latin American Portfolio Manager at Consultatio Asset Management. He holds a B.A. in Economics from the Catholic University of Argentina (UCA), an M.A. in Economics from Universidad Torcuato Di Tella, and is a CFA charterholder.
